Junior Church

The year 2007 was once again full of much activity. We are blessed with a group of people who are dedicated in many different ways to the nurture of our children.

New children came along during the year and joined in the fun. We also saw some of our children take on roles in the “ grown – up” congregation as servers or junior sidesmen and we encourage them to take part whenever we can. Five of our children were confirmed this year and we are pleased that they are beginning to take their part as adult members of the church.

Junior Church starts in the Hall at 9.50am and we follow the theme of the day in activities suited to the children’s age group. We join the service at the “Peace”.  We are welcomed into church by Anne or Gary. The children are eager to share what they have done with the congregation and many of our activities are placed on the front of the altar.

During the year we have helped lead the intercessions at Parade services in January, at Harvest and on Christmas morning. We had an activity morning on Maundy Thursday when we made eggs, Easter gardens and we played games.

Our Junior Church Festival this year was based on the word WELCOME. Each letter had a sentence which described what it meant e.g. W is for worship, L is for love. Joseph was our narrator and everyone else helped with intercessions, reading and collection/offertory. The little ones sang very beautifully and most children received certificates.

Once again we came up with a very different idea for our Christmas Tree Festival – our theme being Jesus’ birthday – and we wrapped up birthday presents and topped it all with a big birthday balloon. Everyone took part in that.

We love being with the children and getting to know them and their parents. We have a very short time together but we pack in a so may activities.

New children are always welcome.
