This Month's Letter

Dear Friends,

The workmen from Balfour Beatty have been very busy digging up our road to lay new yellow plastic gas pipe.  This has caused a great deal of disruption.  The gas turned off from time to time; the car left on the road, and a very large hole outside our gate to be carefully negotiated.

As I watch the young workmen wielding shovels; caterpillar and hammer drills I think to myself ‘how much do they earn for such hard work and what must their health be like – how much disruption are they causing to themselves which will show up in later years’.

Disruption in life can come in many forms.  It can affect our families, our relationships at work, and also our leisure time.

Disruption in Spiritual life can also take many varied forms.  We must be on our guard to protect our faith and anything that may injure our prayer life.  We must set aside time to be in God’s presence: to be still with him and patiently wait upon him for the many blessings he brings us day by day: for his graciousness and healing and forgiveness.  We must always persevere and not allow disruption to affect our Spiritual life.

How shall I not give you

All that I have,

When you, in your great goodness,

Give me all that you are?

With love and prayers,

John
