The War Memorial Hall
Morecambe War Memorial Hall is situated opposite the Parish Church, in Church Lane, adjacent to the centre of old Poulton.
Designed by W. Gilbee Scott, of London, and funded by public subscription, it was opened in 1926, by Lord Richard Cavendish, as a memorial to the people of the town who gave their lives in The Great War. Since its foundation it has been in the care of a Board of Trustees which is charged with the upkeep of the property: Thereby ensuring that it is available for social, cultural and educational use for all members of the community.
It is a very
functional building comprising a large hall, with a sprung
dance floor; side
classrooms; a carpeted upper room is available
for the use of smaller groups.
On the ground floor there is a kitchen area (available for self-catering when Food 4 Thought Café is closed - please see below) this has been especially designed for use by disabled clients.
Access to both floors is available by ramps. There are disabled toilet facilities in the Café area and in the main hall.
